Career Plan Essay Career Plan After Graduation Career planning is a lifelong process which includes getting a job, working on our skills, finding out our expectations from life and even retiring. There might always be possible changes in life because our long-term and short-term plans may not match. We cannot always control things from outside such as family, friends or health issues, but once we make a career plan, it lasts as far as possible. The career planning process should include these steps; First thing about career planning is finding out your skills. Skill is thing that we learned how to do. People have a lot of skills that they dont know about. Identifying our skills help to find us our ideal job. It includes finding out what is important for you in job and what kind of decision maker we are. Career planning is answer of the question what are we doing after graduation? after graduation most of people experiences the job search. Job hunting is an activity that a lot of us would just avoid as long as possible. We are aware that in todays world having a job became necessity of life. Even the best workers in the world cannot be through no fault in their lives. We always change our minds and we have may made wrong choices or the job that held such promise has turned to dust. My objectives At the end of the way, I want to be recognizing as a successful person who achieved all the goals she planned and left a positive impression in peoples lives. I will have to work as hard as I can to get that recognition and I am willing to do what it takes to get that point. I approach everything in life with positive attitude and lots of enthusiasm. I strongly believe that I will be a successful person in my whole life. I want to start making my dreams come true with my degree from LSC. My goals is start to my career before I get my degree, I believe that will make me more successful. I know all of my lecturers from my college is going to prepare me to have a good life. I am majoring in Business Administration but I also got my degree in Tourism Management in Turkey. My plan is persuade my career in Tourism. My degree which is from LSC is going to give me a lot of chance to make a difference in tourism business. After third semester of my study, I am going to apply for jobs in hotel. I want to start my career from the very first step. I want to improve my skills by learning about my subject. I am willing to do everything to be where I want to be. I also want to complete my studying by getting my MBA degree in Business. I also want to improve my skills in finance sector, so I can work in any department in any hotel. My all career goals have no geographic or salary. I am willing to relocate anywhere in order to achieve success and gain my knowledge. In the medium term of my experience, I would like to obtain a challenging job in any country in EUROPE. By this time I want to make more specific decisions about my career. Hopefully as a result of gaining my knowledge, I will impress people who can help me to improve my skills. My long-term goal would be becoming a main manager in any successful hotel. Actually I am dreaming to working in hotel since I was child. Working in Dubai would be my dream come true. Dubai is the centre of hotel industry. Career paths Job-I: Receptionist (age 22-25) I want to start my career as a receptionist in a hotel; this place is beginning for me to learn everything. I want to be the first face that people see that as soon as they get into the hotel. I want gain my skills and work on my relationship with people. My responsible is going to be as a receptionist to making customers feel welcome and deal with them professionally. To be professional as a receptionist, I want to improve my computer skills to handle reservations. If I can get a chance to work in big hotel, there might be team of receptionist. Many larger hotels might offer training sections for the employees which may encourage me to work more. To achieve my goals, I need to gain my communication skills. Prospects depend on hotel size but with all the experience I will be able to handle several tasks at once. All the hotels are working with open hours, I may be able to work any time they need me. According to my research I might start up to  £12,000- £14,500 a year salary. But once I get my experience I can earn up to  £18,000 a year. This may depend on the hotel and its size. But my goals are always high. As a receptionist I need to be; Hospitable, sociable and helpful Outstanding communication skills Confidence effective a computer system Good organization skills Peaceful Enjoy having relation with people Also I would like to have GCSEs (A*-C), or equivalent, math skills and able to speak different languages. Job-II; International Business Consultant As an international business consultant I would be responsible for providing applicable and up-to-date information about important business aspects and market information for international companies. The international business consultant is someone who gets all the information from foreign businesses. As I want to work in tourism sector, this might be the good step of my career; because I dont want to work in my own country. I want to travel as much as I can to improve my knowledge. As a consultant in tourism sector, it is a good opportunity for me to work international. The international consultant in hotel, I have to be able to get all the information and business investments from different hotels and I should be able to watch the sectors new opportunities and even information about how the promotions work for competitors. I would like to work in hotel which are already working international, for instance I would rather to choose a hotel which have another hotels bond in different countries. Maybe I might get chance to travel and work in a hotel in more than one country. Common work duties as a international consultant; I might travel to various countries and areas to research positive information for my company and learn different types of cultures to welcome my guests from different countries. I might meet all the managers and any other consultant officially who are professional about their business and I can get chance to discuss about working in foreign country with different working conditions. I will prepare reports and enter promotional discussions with clients I will gain myself in marketing and advertising services. Job-III Marketing Manager; After getting a job as a consultant and learn everything about it, I want to be marketing manager. I am willing to work on my sales, marketing and advertising skills. As a manager, I will be responsible for some common things, such as; development, organizing, directing and controlling activities in different areas. I will have to hire my own employee, I can chose them using by industry like retail companies. As a manager I will hire, fire employees and motivate them to improve their ability and skills. Finding out about new promotions and sharing them with my clients would make me gain my communication skills. Like every marketing manager, make training sections for my employees are going to be one of my responsibilities. As soon as I get my experience, my salary is going to be approximately  £25,000- £35,000. Job-IV Corporate Financial Analyst Beginning to job with my skills and experience I will bring to business new process. I also want to expert my knowledge in different parts of business. As a corporate financial analyst, I will improve my written and oral communication skills. I will be responsible for analysing financial positions of hotel. I will try to find the way how we improve our hotel in business sector and I will be willing to help establish the financial needs of company. Primary duties and responsibilities: Working on forecast revenues, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. Generate forecast and create a new budget plan Provide informations to management to make a long-term planning classify the new ways of improving cash flows I am concern about data analysis in this job because I am not going to use that information until starting my career. I must know about all the information about data analysis. I must learn all the competitors in order to be successful in the area. I must have academic and practical knowledge about business of accounting and finance and I will be willing to move from department to department in order to achieve my long-term goals and get promotions. Job-V CEO of a whole hotel In the last step of my career, I must have all the knowledge and experiments in order to consider that I achieved all the goals that I had. I will have wide data of the financial aspects. I will have the knowledge of advanced quantitative techniques. Managerial experience is going to be positive effect to my career. Basic function is in this job to be a good leader of the corporation. Primary duties and responsibilities; I am going to be the last step of decisions. I will have the opportunity of reviewing the overall financial data of the hotel I will be willing to take the all responsibilities when the hotel has problems I am going to be the first person who is making decisions in long-term distance All the projects are going to need my approval Representative skills and knowledge; I must have complete business sense of job I must have a clear vision about hotel I must be the good leader with ethics and taking all the social responsibilities I must know that this is top of my career and make positive movements are literal Fall-back plan; In the case that I am unable to take my steps wrong and unable to get a job of my dream, I am going to need another career plan. I might be interested in textile sector which is my familys job. My father has a company and they are working like import and export with a lots of brand company. Actually I like fashion and being in the middle of fashion; I can go to Italy and seek for opportunity to working in fashion. I used to work with Calvin Klein in Turkey, they even offered me a job when I finish my graduation but I would rather to work in tourism sector than with fashion, because I like being with people and having relationship with them. I am a kind of person who can talk to anybody and try to solve any kind of problem. Tourism is a big sector that getting bigger every single day of our lives. My plan is the do whatever it takes to live my dreams. Analysis Ive chosen a career in tourism management business, because it is going to give me a chance to travel a lot. Before I retire, I want to travel lots of countries in the world. I want to discover new touristic areas and I will try to making people to go there. Ive been in my usual environment since I was born and it is time for me to recover different places. Whatever is your dream, you must be willing to start from bottom line. You must know that you are going to learn everything from the very beginning. When we look at all these successful people, as you can see that they were from one of us. There are many positions in life that you can chose whatever you like inside of them. Everyone has different type of skills and I believe we can improve our any skills as we want. Life is not easy and without trying we do nothing. Once you get your certain degree, no one wants to stay aside like a fish that not in the sea anymore. My commitment to hard work and make a different in every place that I am going to work even if it is a small one. I will keep learning how to improve myself, and I will try to be always better person. I believe my personality and my skills are going to bring me always up. I didnt even know what my programme at LSC is including until I looked at them. Now, I know what I am going to learn, what kind of things I will be able to do and I have a career plan. I used to think that career plan is something that people never follow but I am willing to follow my entire plan and I hope it is going to be the best for me. I want to thank to Tatiana Pavlovsky who made me realize that I can be a successful person if I want to be. All I need was just a plan.

Macroeconomics Economics Commentary †patterns in America’s unemployment statistics Essay

Unemployment is defined as â€Å"individuals who are actively seeking for a job but cannot find one.† The rate of unemployment however is the number of employed individuals expressed as a proportion of the labour force. During the recent 2010 recession, the United States (US) faced an incredibly large unemployment rate. Despite the fact that America has mostly recovered from the recession, some sectors of the American economy have not yet left the ‘recessionary zone.’ In this article, the dilemma of American teenagers and blacks discrimination is discussed. The statistics given from the article demonstrate a decrease in the rate of unemployment within the American economy. This is illustrated in the graph below as we can see the aggregate supply of labour closing the gap between itself (in blue) and the aggregate demand in order to achieve market equilibrium. Statistically, this improvement can be seen by the drop in unemployment figures from 9.4% in December 2009 to 9.4% one year later in December 2010. Analysing the situation, numerous factors could have resulted in this dip. Primarily, gender discrepancy should be taken into respect. Females dominated industries have increased in size such as education and healthcare industries. Supporting my analysis, the rate of unemployment for women minimally fell by 0.1% unlike their male counterparts whom suffered greater losses. Males as a result saw a greater decrease in their unemployment percentages, falling by 0.8% in comparison to the female’s 0.1% probably due to discriminating reasons, academic motives or other social aspects. Another yet the most principle core dispute raised in the article is the fact that blacks and teenagers are being discriminated suffering from the highest rates of unemployment. Teens topped a high unemployment percentage of 25.4% whilst blacks a little lower tallied at 15.8%. Logically this makes sense for teenagers (assuming they are in the job searching range of 16 to 19 years old), in this age group most teenagers have had little professional experience as emphasis is placed on completing their high school diploma, meaning that the labour force is fundamentally less productive as these teenagers would have no or relatively no real previous real work experience in comparison to an elder person making them less appealing to employers. A growing number of teenagers choose to work as servers/waiters as a consequence of preference and taste for the job yet more importantly, due to their lack in qualifications to work in offices and large firms. As laws enforcing compulsory education up to a certain age become stricter and a higher number of adolescent individuals choosing to complete their studies exists, these individuals are not counted in the ‘pool of unemployment’ as they do not wish to have a job at that moment in time. By estimating, blacks who seem to comprise largely of adults seem however to be facing discriminatory reasons resulting in their rather high unemployment rate. America could modify a few of its structural policies in order to circumvent such dramatic results if a recession were to occur again. Firstly, better and wider training programmes in all academic fields should be offered to students at schools. If the education became more flexible, offering courses in a wider range of subjects, the creation of a possibly more productive workforce is probable and more importantly, having acquired many skills and talents, these teenagers would be capable of finding new jobs in case of a structural change in the economy that demands different skills. Another policy could be to fundamentally ensure that every teenager is granted some type of access to good education/training programme. Lastly, as teenagers in school are not recorded as part of the unemployment rate, the rate of unemployment could be reduced if the government were to provide some type of incentive for teenagers to go back to/attend school. Not only would this reduce unemployment figures in the short run, it would mean that these same teenagers will be capable to offer society much more as they would have gained professional qualifications According to Alicia Robb,†Asians are the most educated, so when you have the largest pool of workers, employers are going to pick the most qualified† Robb’s statement explains the situation of the Asian race, having suffered the lowest increase in unemployment yet highest fall un unemployment figures from 8.4% in December 2009 to 7.2% a year later. Recently, a voluminous amount of Asians have flocked to the United States. Not only do they usually obtain higher qualified or greater work experience but Asian labour has been branded to be relatively cheap lowering a firm’s total costs, increasing profits. The later generation of these Asians (20 – 30 years old) are thus already qualified enough due to the development in America after 1980s and most of them are employed in good companies and are very well paid now. The young generation of Asians, which are contributed to the teenagers are now concentrating on education in America and most of them would go back to their countries after graduating.

A Class Struggle in Desperate Times Essay

John Steinbeck’s novel entitled The Grapes of Wrath is a story which depicts the spirit and dignity of a person during the most desperate of situations. The novel is a fictional account of the life of the Joad family on their way to the Promised Land of California from the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma during the 1930s (Steinbeck 2). The family, similar to several other sharecroppers and farmers living in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and other states at the time of the dust bowl and the Great Depression were forced to leave their lands (Steinbeck 3). When it was first published in April 14, 1939, it quickly became a bestselling novel (Steiner 2). Although there were those who criticized the novel for apparently being basically sentimental and still others dismissed it as another example of social journalism or documentation more than it is a novel, most critics recognize the literary value of Steinbeck’s work. In fact, the author even received a Pulitzer Prize for his work the following year (Steiner 2). The novel is an attack on capitalism as it is about the plight of the migrant workers. It condemned cruel industrialism and monopoly capitalism (Choi 90). The theme of finding a home entwined with the political issues of the time is of the essence. This is because even though the story primarily has a political undertone, the author nevertheless explores the reason behind the migration of people, how they struggle to find their new homes while seeking to find out how it can really be done. The novel was written at a time the United States was struggling to survive a severe economic depression (Steinbeck 3). People all over the country have practically lost everything they own. The farming areas located at the Midwest experienced the worst consequence of such crisis. Soil depletion was brought about by poor farming practices. As a result, farmers who depend on it for survival were forced to seek for other ways to support their families. Moreover, the prices as well as markets for the crops have dropped. These events produced a significant change in agriculture of the region. Small farm lands merged with bigger and more commercial ones. Manual labor has been replaced by mechanical means. The country experienced dry soil erosion brought about by mighty wind blows and endured serious food crisis during middle part of the 1930s. The condition produced what came to be known as the â€Å"dust bowl† in Colorado, Kansa, Texas, and Oklahoma. The farmers together with their families were driven out of the land they depend on for years of survival. They traveled all the way to California, whose fertile land presents the promise of a better life. Unfortunately, life in the so-called Promised Land has not been good to them either. They suffered oppression, resentment, low wages, and unemployment. They were accused as communist in a land they counted on to rescue them from the ill-fated life they left back home (Steinbeck 3). Steinbeck traveled with the migrants to gain a first-hand experience of the unfortunate life they had to live. In writing the novel, the author sought more than just to illustrate the class struggle at the time of the Great Depression. He even presented a critical analysis of the policies that had been the root cause of their misfortune. In this regard, the characters portrayed in the story usually come out as classic heroes or romanticized models. He did this on purpose instead of utilizing his characters to investigate the individual human psyche. Rather, he presents his characters as personification of the universal struggles and principles of the human race. Hence, The Grapes of Wrath serves as an account of the Great Depression as it was an assessment of the social and fiscal system that contributed to the emergence of this particular period in American history. Ottawa, the Capital City of Canada

Ottawa, in the province of Ontario, is the capital of Canada. This picturesque and safe city is the fourth largest city in the country, with a population of 883,391 as of the 2011 Canadian census. Its on the eastern border of Ontario, just across the Ottawa River from Gatineau, Quebec. Ottawa is cosmopolitan, with museums, galleries, performing arts and festivals, but it  still has the feel of a small town and is relatively affordable. English and French are the main languages spoken, and Ottawa is a diverse, multicultural city, and about 25 percent of its residents are from other countries. The city has 150 kilometers, or 93 miles, of recreational paths, 850 parks and access to three major waterways. Its iconic Rideau Canal becomes  the worlds largest naturally frozen skating rink in the winter.  Ottawa is a high-technology center  and boasts more engineers, scientists and Ph.D. graduates per capita than any other city in Canada. Its a great place to bring up a family and a fascinating city to visit. History Ottawa began in 1826 as a staging area -- a campsite -- for the construction of the Rideau Canal. Within a year a small town had grown up, and it was called Bytown, named after the leader of the Royal Engineers who were building the canal, John By. The timber trade helped the town grow, and in 1855 it was incorporated and the name was changed to Ottawa. In 1857, Ottawa was chosen by Queen Victoria as the  capital of the province of Canada.  In  1867, Ottawa was officially defined by the BNA Act as the capital of the Dominion of Canada. Ottawa Attractions The Parliament of Canada dominates the Ottawa scene, with its Gothic-revival spires rising high from Parliament Hill and overlooking the Ottawa River. During the summer it includes a changing of the guard ceremony, so you can get a taste of London without crossing the Atlantic. You can tour the Parliament buildings year-round. Canadas National Gallery, the National War Memorial, the Supreme Court of Canada and the Royal Canadian Mint are within walking distance of the Parliament. The National Gallerys architecture is a modern reflection of the Parliament buildings, with glass spires standing in for Gothic ones. It houses mostly the work of Canadian artists and is the largest collection of Canadian art in the world. It also includes work by European and American artists. The Canadian Museum of History, across the river in Hull, Quebec, is not to be missed. And dont miss the spectacular views of Parliament Hill from this vantage across the river. Other museums to check out are the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Canadian War Museum and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Weather in Ottawa Ottawa has a humid, semi-continental climate with  four distinct seasons. Average winter temperatures are around 14 degrees Fahrenheit, but can it sometimes dip to -40. There is significant snowfall in the winter, as well as many sunny days. While average summer temperatures in Ottawa are around 68 degrees Fahrenheit, they can soar to 93 degrees and above.
