Compare and contrast the roles and relationships of the following pairs of characters: George and Lennie (of Mice and Men) and Holmes and Watson (Sherlock Holmes stories). Sherlock Holmes stories are short stories, which involve investigating and solving crimes. They include characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Dr James Watson, these are two main characters who are in each short story trying to solve case investigations. Of mice and men is a story in which two friends, Lennie and George are trying to look for a job so that they can for fill their†¦show more content†¦There is a very clear hard working system where everyone would have had to work very hard to earn a living. This would affect individuals, which would lead to different attitudes in the society. There is a racial attitude towards Crooks the Negro stable buck, for example Lennie says to Crooks Why aint you wanted? Crook replies Cause Im black. They play cards in there, but I cant play because Im black. This shows that Crooks has been isolated from the others in the ranch because he is black. There are themes of sexism in this story towards curlys wife because she is the only woman in the ranch, she is always left in her house with nothing to do, people dont treat her with any respect because they just think that she is only a silly woman. This is shown by Curleys wife saying to George Think Im gonna stay in that two-by-four house and listen too how Curleys gonna lead with his left twice. Lennie is a huge man, shapeless of the face, who has large pale eyes, with wide sloping shoulders. Lennie is sort of like a Big baby who cant control his actions. He lacks confidence and intelligence, which people take as an advantage, especially Curly. Lennie always looks up to George and whenever he needs help he will always look straight for George. Lennie has a dream to live with George on a farm and to Live off the fatta the lan and to be able to Tend the rabbits.
